It is the act of manipulating someone into performing an action or giving out confidential information. For example, calling up someone claiming to be tech support and asking for their password.

If you login to your computer Monday morning and you see Obama’s head in the right hand corner of your screen, you have been infected. As first reported by Walling Data after an infection at a prep school in Metairie, Louisiana.
Not just the last line of defense against spam
I was reading “The last line of defense against spam!” but it should be titled “The last line of defense against Viruses and Spam”. I have said for years that the last line of defense against Spam and Viruses is the end user. With proper training we would not need half the signatures that are included in most anti virus products. There would be a huge drops in the amount of spam everywhere. There would be no reason for spammers, since there would be no money. Why do people send spam!

I recently posted about sending e-cards, and then I go to work and there is an outbreak. Wouldn’t you know it was started via E-Cards. As of now some virus scanners are picking it up, most are still not. It bothers me when the scanners I would normally trust are not detecting it yet. Being I use open source scanner I just made my own signature to catch it.
