That is correct, Microsoft (MSFT) is offering $250,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and convication of the person(s) responsible for releasing the Conflicker Worm.
This is not the first time Microsoft has done this, in 2004 they paid $250,000 to a group of German students who ratted out their classmate, Sven Jaschan, creator of the Sasser worm.
The conflicker worm has been out a while, reported here on Jan 25th. This worm was patched by Microsoft in October of 2008. The problem is people not doing updates when patches come out. Come on people if you haven’t been patching your system then you are doing nothing but contributing to the spam problem. This is the one time, I agree with people who say Microsoft should “Force Updates” on users.
My question is why do you not do the updates? What holds you back from doing them?
