I don’t know about you but when I use outlook, and at work I use it all the time. One of my biggest complaints is searching sucks! Xobni wants to be a type of social networking tool but to me this is the way to search your inbox or all of your email.
I have to use Outlook at work and when I search outlook I’m always or at least 99% of the time looking for an email from someone. Not a subject, not something in the body but something from someone. When using Outlook built in search I usually start the search and then leave. Come back check on it, go eat lunch.. come back check on it. With Xobni it is almost instant. Most of the time I use Outlook Web Access as this is usually faster then using Outlook to search.
I’ve installed Google Desktop just to be able to search my inbox and it slows my machine to a crawl, and I got no slow machine. The “Desktop” I have at work is what most people would call a server. We are talking dual core processor’s, kicking graphics, and a ton of memory. Yet after running Google Desktop for a couple of days my system is running like a 386 running Windows BOB.
So download Xobni from their web site install it and use it. The first time you install it, it will take a while to index your email. During this time your machine and or email may see to be running slower. This is to be expected. Once the indexing of your old email is done, its time to rock.
I just installed the newest version and so far the only complaint I have is the upgrade requires an re indexing. Good part of the new version is it is linked to Linkedin.
So download it and use it, I highly recommend it. If you are stuck using outlook.
