This time out we decided to go to Oak Mountain State Park and hike some trails. We happened to show up during Bump n Grind. So we drove up toward Peavine Falls. On our way up we found this spot to Picnic. The view was breath taking, this is a picture of the view from the picnic table. It was secluded with only a vehicle every now and then passing.
After lunch we went on up to Peavine Falls parking and hiked up to the falls. Not long at all but it is a bit of a climb in altitude. It goes up from about 620 feet to about 1100 feet. Once we reached the falls we stayed there for a while and let the kids and the dog play in the water.
We had planned to go further and take the blue trail from the falls but my oldest started feeling bad. I think it was lunch, bologna just sits heavy during the heat. Mind you it was also 90+ degree’s. So we turned around and headed home. It was a good trip, we got to drive around the mountain and check out the areas we want to visit and got a taste of the climb on the trails. We will return and hike again at Oak Mountain.
